Are You Doing What You’ve Always Wanted to Do?

From Massage School to Licensed Massage Therapist – Part 2

You’ve graduated. You’ve passed the MBLEx.* You’re ready and determined.  Now what?

For some, APPREHENSION sets in.  Are you really ready to do something that you have always wanted to do?

It is now up to you. If you have not done so already, it’s up to you to find a place to work. Will you be a business owner or will you be working for someone else? Do you need to purchase your own sets of sheets, your own massage table, your own lotions? How will you get clients to book a session with you? Will you have the skills and confidence that your new clients will expect?

THEN IT HAPPENS. You get your first official client.

You have scheduled the session. Your treatment room is ready, table made up, soothing music is on. Your client comes in, and you work out a session plan. The session starts. And then you remember what you have been working toward. The client’s breathing slows. Their muscles soften. If they were initially guarded, they are now softly swaying with the effleurage and petrissage techniques of your hands. You notice therapeutic change in their muscle tissue. And they leave relaxed, happy, and satisfied with this service you have just provided.

You realize that this – Massage Therapy – is what you have been wanting to do. Though it may be slow at first, in time it will pick up. Your confidence and skill will grow.

The client books again. You smile, as the anxiety slips away.

You Are a Successful Massage Therapist!
You are Doing What You Have Always Wanted To Do!
